SAPS (Site Alarm Paging System) is a system for monitoring, documenting, and
paging appropriate, Intellution generated alarms. SAPS works primarily with
Intellution systems, but it may also be customized to work with other
alarming systems.
The system can be ported to nearly any platform but is currently constructed
to work with the popular Windows operating system.
SAPS interfaces with Intellution's FIX software on each configured scada node
and processes the appropriate alarms. SAPS may be
configured to scan any number of scada nodes on your network. SAPS will
record the last scan performed on each node and will "catch up" data
records if unable to access a node for up to 48 hours.
SAPS is capable of building database entries from existing Intellution alarm
(.alm) files. The administrator may set a start date for individual scada
nodes and build data records from past files. Recovery is possible as far
back as alarm files exist. Scada nodes may also be temporarily taken
"offline" from either the SAPS PC or locally at each individual scada node.
SAPS records all Intellution alarms in a MySQL or Lotus Notes database.
SAPS can be configured to work with nearly any database product.
SAPS can be configured to use your paging gateway to automatically send
alarm pages to corresponding response groups. SAPS can also send alarm
emails to corresponding response groups.
Using SAPS, you may also configure custom alarms which can be comprised of
almost anything. You may wish to know whenever a particular change is made
to your alarm configurations or you may wish to know whenever a particular
system user logs in. These custom alarms are recorded in the database tables
and email/paging notifications can also be configured.
SAPS also provides an AlarmViewer web interface that allows anyone at your
facility to view the status of active and OK alarms. You can see how many
times an alarm was triggered before being brought back into the appropriate
value range. You can use this information to gauge the effectiveness of
your response time.
Additionally, SAPS provides an Admin Tool web interface that allows an
administrator to archive and restore alarm records. It also allows an
administrator to delete single alarms or a set of alarms within a date range.
SAPS is a custom system and must be altered for each specific installation.
Lockheed Martin, Owego has its own paging system which SAPS uses to send
pages by communicating through a direct serial connection with a proprietary
protocol interface.
